Korea business visa for Indians: Prepare for a startup

Korea business visa for Indians: Prepare for a startup

Short answer: For Indians researching a Korea business visa, OASIS offers a technology startup route for foreign founders toward the D-8-4 visa and business operation in Korea; its published conditions cover foreigners generally rather than naming Indian applicants separately. You need a qualifying degree or Center letter, at least 60 points including one prerequisite item, and an established corporation. Applications for OASIS-4 Basic Start-up Class #6 close on November 8, 2026 at 24:00; this is a training deadline, not a visa deadline.

Status as of 2026-10-30: Open — OASIS-4 Basic Start-up Class #6, until November 8, 2026 at 24:00.

Who can apply

The technology startup class accepts prospective founders whose business idea qualifies as a technology startup. Selection is based on the review committee’s evaluation of the submitted business item. The class runs offline.

For D-8-4, OASIS lists a bachelor’s degree, an associate’s degree obtained in Korea, or a Global Startup Immigration Center letter as the qualification requirement. You must also reach at least 60 points, include at least one prerequisite item, and establish a corporation.

Course points alone do not replace the prerequisite item. Examples include intellectual property ownership or an application. A patent application earns 10 points; intellectual property applications together are capped at 10 points regardless of their number. Joint participation can reduce the points credited to each participant.

Students and short-term visa holders may attend the class. For incorporation under the OASIS program, however, the schedule requires D-10-2 Startup Preparation status. It excludes incorporation while on tourist or student status. Liaison offices, branches, sole proprietorships and non-profit organizations do not meet this program’s corporation requirement.

A separate D-9-1 Trade Startup Program serves graduates of Korean universities or colleges preparing a trading business. Its training is offline and in Korean only. Keep this route separate from the D-8-4 technology startup route.

What you get

OASIS provides education, mentoring and incorporation support. It also has support for eligible intellectual property expenses. Completing OASIS-4 earns 10 points and an OASIS certificate; it does not by itself meet the D-8-4 requirements.

OASIS-5 mentoring earns 15 points and requires a clearly defined business idea and an MVP. Participants complete three sessions, with an assigned task at each stage before moving forward. OASIS-8 provides incorporation guidance and administrative support and carries 15 points.

OASIS-3 can support application fees and agent commissions within a given range, once per person, for patents, utility models and designs. Trademarks are excluded. Separately, Seoul Global Center describes support through the patent application stage, subject to budget availability, covering approximately 50% of the overall cost of obtaining intellectual property rights. This percentage belongs to that Center’s support description.

How to apply (step by step)

  1. Start any intellectual property preparation early. If you plan to use a patent application as your prerequisite item, OASIS’s example allows one month for it, compared with two weeks for corporation establishment. These are example preparation periods, not visa processing promises.
  2. Prepare your business item and qualification evidence. The technology class evaluates your submitted business item. For the later visa stage, identify the degree or Center letter and the evidence supporting your chosen points. Obtain the full visa document checklist and fee information before filing; the course application is a separate stage.
  3. Apply through the official schedule. Open the OASIS schedule and use the Apply link beside OASIS-4 #6. Submit by November 8, 2026 at 24:00.
  4. Check your email for selection. The scheduled announcement is November 11, 2026 at 18:00. Successful applicants receive individual email notification. Classes run November 17–19, 2026, offline.
  5. Complete the preparation and incorporation stages. The schedule describes changing to D-10-2 after training to begin incorporation and business setup. OASIS-8 incorporation assistance accepts requests on demand. Once the required points and other conditions are met, applicants may apply for D-8-4.

FAQ

Can I take the startup class while studying in Korea?

Yes. OASIS permits participation on a student visa and issues a certificate on completion. Its incorporation stage requires D-10-2 status.

Do I need an MVP before taking the basic class?

The basic class requires a technology startup business idea. The clearly defined idea and MVP requirement applies to OASIS-5 mentoring.

Can several patent applications give me all 60 points?

No. Points for intellectual property applications are capped at 10, regardless of the number of applications. Registered rights have different point values.

Does incubation give points immediately?

No. OASIS-7 graduation is recognized only after at least six months in the incubation space. The program carries 15 points.
